Carnival’s Cruise Vacation Protection Plan includes pre-traveling protection
and post-departure coverages for the following:
SECTION I: TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT PROTECTION
Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption
If you must cancel or interrupt your cruise for certain specified reasons such
as injury, illness, or death, Carnival will provide a refund to you up to your
TOTAL CRUISE VACATION COST for your otherwise non-refundable cancellation
charges.
Additional specified reasons for cancellation include jury duty, subpoena,
having a home made uninhabitable by a natural disaster, hijacking, quarantine
and being involved in a documented traffic accident en route to departures.
Please see the Plan Description for full details.
Trip Delay
If you should miss the departure of your cruise due to carrier-caused delays
or other covered reasons, Carnival will reimburse you up to $500 for unused
travel arrangements and/or out-of-pocket costs such as accommodation and
transportation expenses in order to catch up to the trip or to return home.
Section I Travel Arrangement Protection is provided by Carnival Cruise
Lines.
SECTION II: TRAVEL PROTECTION COVERAGES
Emergency Evacuation
If an injury or illness requires emergency medical transportation to the
nearest appropriate medical facility, the insurer will prepay up to $30,000
for covered transportation expenses.
Repatriation of Remains
In the event of your death, the plan prepays up to $30,000 toward the expenses
associated with transporting your remains.
Accident & Sickness Medical Expense Protection
If you become ill or injured while on your cruise, the plan will reimburse you
up to $10,000 for your medical expenses. Coverage while traveling overseas is
particularly important as many HMO’s and Medicare may not cover your medical
expenses while you are traveling outside the U.S.
Baggage Protection
If your baggage and/or personal effects should become lost, stolen, or damaged
during, or while in transit to or from your cruise, the plan will reimburse
you up to $1,500. The plan also includes baggage delay protection, covering up
to $500 for the purchase of necessary personal items in the event your luggage
is delayed by a common carrier for more than 24 hours en route to the ship.
24-Hour Worldwide Emergency Assistance
A 24-Hour emergency telephone assistance hotline is provided by On Call
International to help you with travel-related emergencies ranging from cash
transfer, legal, dental or medical referral, lost travel documents assistance,
and medical consultation and monitoring.
Section II Travel Protection Coverages are underwritten by Virginia
Surety Company, Inc. under policy number HTP04190. 24-Hour WorldWide Emergency
Assistance Services are provided by On Call International.
